Photographer’s Note
Down at Meadowbank Station on a foggy morning in early spring ...
Is this dramatic and exciting, or is it simply overexposed and badly-shot?

Is this dramatic and exciting, or is it simply overexposed and badly-shot?...I guess that depends on the mood and character you wanted for this picture Rew. I think this is a very interesting picture with a super bright light in the middle, showing a faint image of a machine behind.
I like it. Is very different!

Hi Rew,
IMO, yes. All the adjectives you mentioned.
Fog creates special mood. Long focal length squeezes the whole train to a tight package. And the light looks intensive like a lighthouse.
But no doubt, I'd like to see also the underframe and less overexposure.

I would think it's original, well tried and above all, visually really interesting. The thumbnail is not too easy to understand and the title is maybe too explicit for me. That metal caterpillar, a kind of iron animal passing through the fog with that incredible and flashy light, that's maybe more artistic than dramatic to me.

Hi Rew!
I like it.Photo is something special.I think it is not overexposed.Light works more like good effect and you can`t worry about noise,hi,hi.It is fog.
Maybe you must try PP adjustment/levels.Make photo a little darker and see results...Just an idea.

Hi Rew. A photo full of mystery perhaps. The background is just hinted at as opposed to being obvious and not showing the whole engine leaves a bit to the imagination also. The only negative is the headlight brightness, but nothing can be done about that. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hello Rew.
Your shot is completely different and shot from a very interesting vantage point. I had a run in with what fog can do to backlighting not too long ago. The atmosphere was great, the orange glow was excellent, but the sun shone so bright and bled the shots of any life right in its huge circle. I don't really fell that way about your shot, maybe one more millisecond of exposure and you'd be right out. I wouldn't way your shots dramatic, because the sense of movement is lost a little in the haze. But, this shot is very artistic and I think it works well. I think maybe that a darker frame would bring the colors out more as well. Maybe a thin line of black, then thin line of white, followed by a more sizable line of black.
Hope this helps some, very original...keep it up.
Regards,
Chris.

I choose your first thought dramatic and exciting. I love the fog and since Otto worked for C.P.Rail I like trains too. Very nice capture. TFS
