Photographer’s Note
Different approach of the first Naxos Blues.
While searching for "something typical" Naxos I pondered about the following; there is an infinite amount of elements that is hard if not impossible to capture. For instance, Naxos manners. I once read that Naxonians posses the most interesting ability to combine European major-city rudeness with the hospitality and kindness of old country values. How to capture such generalized conclusion, or how can one prove the opposite through a picture?
During my visit on Naxos I could not avoid noting that often I forget to seek these "typical" elements in ethical areas. Daily life sceneries and street photography are still areas in which I feel as an intruder, so I ended up shooting a blue panel blessed with patience, a rather easy catch ;-)
Though I do not prefer strong direct sunlight I turned the hard contrast shaped forms into an compositional play. After scanning and downsizing I found that the result had became too unsharp and I tried the Paintshop "clarify" tool that Norbert used in a previous workshop.
Still not really pleased, any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance!

Mabye a litle bit of un-sharp mask could be added as well, to bring out the structure even more. The colour and light is very nice though as well as the vertical and horizontal lines. Well seen Edwin.

A very simple but effective composition. This blue reminds me of a trip to the Greek islands a few years ago. I like the flaking paint showing the old colour below and also the dark shadows between the slats.

I'm a fan of simple shots that can be so effective while focusing on a simple detail. Yours is great with a nice and neat composition and superb colour. The sharpness is perhaps not perfect but I don't mind it too much.

A very interesting study, Edwin. I think that the clarify tool can do the job here, if you use it several times. I made a WS, using it twice on max. strength. I am not happy with the result, it does't work well on the reisized version, but if you use it on the big version it will work better.
I like the way you are focusing one item for several shots, testing different techniques.

Fantastic intense blue colour Edwin! The light is perfect /I don't mind it is so strong/ and the textures of paint and wood in your composition are incredible! I like it very much!
