You had an interesting idea and ended up with a very nice result.
I feel a bit uneasy though looking at the photo and that must be due to the difference in which the sun light hits the moon, i.e. orthogonal to the picture plane, relative to the obelisk and other stuff on the ground which are being illuminated sideways. However, at the same time this goes along pretty well with your title story: that's not the moon but some strange see-through shadowless giant bubble floating randomly in the air. You're right it had a good chance of falling onto that pointy object underneath and vanishing forever and probly that's what happened. You captured a decisive moment.

Bulent, this is awesome!! You already received so many good feedbacks on this one that one more will seem unsignificant...I know...but still, this is awesome. I meam, the technique you used to do that. Is it common practice for people shooting on films? People had to be pretty ingenious to do what we can do on photoshop in just a couple of clicks now...
The result is a pretty powerful image with the obelisk going to bore the balloon:D REally really beautiful, I keep staring at it...

Stunning double exposure Bulent that makes for an outstanding result. I remember this tech of the 'old days' - not always so easy to do with a result as here. Interesting note of the colour differences on the monument. Presented in i good quality as from being from 82 indicating also a good job by the scanner.

Interesting how you achieved this! It must have taken a lot time measuring and making sure everything was perfect. I'm very attached to photoshop, but probably because I could never achieve anything like this! I'd be scared of wasting the film and it all turning out wrong. You did this incredibly well. Truly amazing. I love the effect it gave the entire image, too!

On a technical point, there is nothing i can add, but it is so nice that i have to give it some more:-).
But then, what i prefer is the connection between subject, technic and comment, Moon come and go every day. If you don't care it is just a earth sattelit, but if you look closer you can discover incredibles views of it. Sometimes, people have to freeze their mind to forget daily matters and discover how beautifull is the world.That can take a lot of time (to many months).

I'm glad you put in the link to this amazing shot Bulent, and it's all the more admirable in that the effect was achieved in-camera. It's all far too easy these days with photoshop.
It's inspired me to try and achieve something similar, on film. Now, when's the next full moon....

Well done Bulent. I have tried this but without much success although I have sandwiched two slides together for a similar effect. I think picking the Washington Monument was an excellent choice.

Unlike everybody else, this is not my favourite shot.

It is a great image for sure. The technical prowesses in producing this picture are REALLY impressive.

Nevertheless, I personally think this is more impressive because it was not done with Photoshop, not because it is a great picture.

This image is somewhat misleading because it depicts a technical prowess but it remains a composition, not a picture.

I think Trek Lens is a site better suited for a composition.

But again, and I mean every word I say: this is GREAT work! Very impressive.

A "home made" photoshop work before the software era !Incredible, and the result is perfect.
"Discussing among physicists", I noted, looking at your picture, how the impression one has of the moon's surface when looking at it by naked eye is so different from the actual image. The sort of human face which one "sees" by naked eye does not exist if one looks at a photograph of the moon, and it is probably an interpretation made by our brain out of the actual position of the moon seas.
I was also reading that the explication of why the moon appears bigger when close to the horizon is very controversial and not clear at all.
Someone says it is because we see the moon next to terrestrial objects, and our brain sets the scale differently. But this does not occur if the moon rises below a mountain, already high in the sky.
My own personal explanation is that the full moon at the horizon is fainter, and there is a different contrast with the black sky. This might be interpreted differently by our brain, compared to a very bright moon over a dark sky.
But I have to admit that I did not find this explanation anywhere else.
If I am right a lunar eclipse should make the moon appear bigger. I do not remember if it does !

I have read your note and am scratching my head as to how you achieved this but am slowly getting there :-).
