Taken at the Summer Palace just outside of Beijing.
This B&W-looking photo is actually in color but the lack of color is what struck me about this view. Windows along a walkway of the palace are without glass and have decorative frames. I'm sure the view would be spectacular on a clear day but sometimes you have to adjust to the conditions.

Exellent shot in window framing, Gregory.
It's a good idea of desaturation, it adds romanctic to the composition.
Thank you for sharing it.

Great idea using this window as a frame. Too bad about the washed out scene in the distance that day. It would be interesting to see it again in full colour if and when you get a chance to go back again.

I like very much this shot, a good composition.

The mist serves to desaturate the colors, to make a B&W out of an otherwise colorful scene. What is also effective is that you've framed the tower (shrine) in a corner of the corner rather than the center of the opening. A very good photo,

Really creative image of what could be at first sight a pointless shot. Nicely done!

Definitely a good framing. I find sometimes the not so bright days give the photos a little more of a mood so the graininess and 'washed-out' aspect of the photo doesn't bother me that much. I think I would like to have the frame sharper, and the overall photo more satuated.
