I've just came back from fantastic trip to Portugal where I was fortunate enough to be taken to incredibly beautiful and overwhelming place - Praia da Ursa (Ursa Beach) The rocks, the waves and the wind make for a mindblowing spectacle. It is considered the most beautiful beach of Portugal and one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. We've waited for the sun to set down and this picture was taken with the strongest sunset light just before the sun has disappeared for that day.
This photo is a result of being part of TE. I've admired Luis photos from this beach (not only those) and as I had a business meeting in Lisbon I've taken the opportunity to meet some other talented photographer from TE. Luis, thank you again for taking me there!!
Location: Praia da Ursa (Ursa Beach)
Getting There: By public transport. From Lisbon Rossio station take the train to Sintra (about 45 minutes). Then take the bus to Cabo da Roca, the western most point of continental Europe (another 45 minutes and quite a ride through tiny alleys. It is of course much easier to get there by car…
Comments: There are two paths leading down to the beach. One is steep and difficult, the other less so, but longer and the smaller loose stones instead of the bigger rocks make for a different challenge. You should definitely not be afraid of heights :)

I like the composition, the point of view and the light. The colors are beautiful!
But maybe the accentuation is too high? (particularly the line between the rocks and the sky)

an other beautiful photo of Portugal,
the late light, the warm brown colours, the rocks, all work fine.
Only the sharpness is a bit too much for my taste.

I see you had a productive trek with Luis, Lucie. It is amazing how similar this photo is with his last posts. The low sun has produced great colours here, and light and shadows are superb, although composition is not so deep. Lovely beachscape.

Very nice capture without really wide angle lens. I like the excellent sharpness and the changes of the shadow and light areas.

A scale of browns... bravo!

Really interesting shot. The composition helps to pull the eye through the image to the lighter rocks in the background. Stunning place as well.

Very beautiful shot Lucie. It's interesting to see this beach represented by someone other than Luis. In fact I thought it was his photo when I first saw the thumbnail. Your composition is very strong. I like how the framed it very tightly, which helps emphasize the Ursa rock in the middle. Lighting and colors are amazing as always.
P.S. I'm looking forward to seeing more photos from Portugal.

Lovely colors on the rocks. The light gives more colors to it. TFS!

Incredible combination in this shot Lucie! The shapes are so sharply defined and crisp, that they almost seem like silhoettes, and yet you have combined that with intense colour as well. The result is very eye catching and beautiful. Great work!

Another beautiful sight of beach. But it seems to me that correction of clearness is a little too important, no ?

I know this place from somewhere. Probably in my dreams! :) Nice photo Lucie with these deep saturated colors. Love the shadows on the sand and this big foreground rock. I would love to see a bit more space around the compo, but I understand your personal choice on this tight framing. It's quite balanced in my opinion and with a lot of depth. I have a question: why iso 800?!? That has created unnecessary noise turning your unsharp method a little too visible. I am no solemnity in photography, but I can't understand why the 800 iso at this time of the day... If it was for freezing the water movement, I think you could still have done it with one or two stops lower. Anyway, it's a really good photo. Want to see more from this Portuguese pot. Please.

This is a great picture of a great Portuguese beach. The composition is excellent with the three (or four?) big rocks in the background and the “small” rock just at an arms length on the foreground. Very well done.

Wowee! lovely warmth from the sun. Brilliant colours and textures. great composition.

I have to say I am really impressed with your results in this beach shoreline scene. I love the shapes and deep tones in these rocks. Part from the setting sunlight but also the angle of the sun adds interesting shadows on the rocks. Finally its the distant rocks that are lighter in color that really add depth to this photo. Simply outstanding Lucie...I wish I had a photo like this in my gallery. Excellent indeed!!!!
