Photographer’s Note

After weeks of really bad weather here in Germany summer got a great revival yesterday.
So I decided to take a short trip to Muenster for shopping and other 'tourist stuff'.
On my way back home I left Autobahn and headed for Schloss Nordkirchen (castle Nordkirchen) - also called 'Westfälisches Versailles' (Westphalian Versailles) for a short sightseeing.
Strolling through the park at late afternoon and wondered the leaves are getting coloured yet... fall is coming.

Castle Nordkirchen was ordered by Muenster's Bishop Friedrich Christian von Plettenberg. Construction started under G.L. Pictorius's supervision. After 30 years of construction time the castle was finished in 1710 by J.C. Schlaun.
The baroque castle surrounded by water can be found in the middle of a large park, that was originally created after the famous french example.
Today the castle is the domicile of the university of applied science in financials NRW. (Man, I wish I was a student in financials ;) ).

The Castle's park
This is an important example of french baroque.
Founded in 1705 it was redesigned in 1725 by J.C. Schlaun. In 1906 transformed in new baroque by A. Duchéne (Paris).
After nearly total decay it was rebuilt in the 1920s.
Total size 72ha with ca. 8km of avenues (the picture shows on of them).

Adjusting levels and expanded the contrast just a bit. After altering image size some sharpening and a frame.
I apologize for the quality but I haven't managed yet to size down a 10M pixel picture to 200kB without big loss of quality.. :/

Hope you like it
