Photographer’s Note
The interior of the Many Glacier hotel built in 1915 as part of the Great Northern Railway's attempt to keep Americans at home during WWI. This was an opportunity to head for the cooler locations in the Northern tier of states. While the exterior was planned in a "swiss style," the interior was an open atrium lobby to the skylights. Originally there was a fishing pond and a swimming pool. The swimming pool was abandoned during a remodel when the heating system couldn't keep it about 45 degrees F (6 C).
In this shot you can see the front door and registration desk on the left, the fireplace in the bottom, a piano and shop near the top. The open hallways are shown on the second and third floors, and flags representing the Swiss cantons decorate the atrium.
