TODAY

I had a few minutes to spare before I had to get to kindergarten, so I stopped off at Browns Bay Beach. It was quite funny – I was taking these photos and all of a sudden I noticed the different cloud formations in the sky. It looks so busy, with so many shapes and forms, but the blue sky was still shining through.

Auckland does get a lot of clouds. The Maori people named this country Aotearoa - Land of the Long White Cloud. And no wonder, we do get a lot of clouds over our islands.

I found the following data for today on a forecast site for Auckland, New Zealand. It's quite interesting. . .

Hi Janice,
Wonderful photo! The blue and silvery tones are beautiful. The shapes of the fluffy clouds are interesting and I like the smooth look of the water. Great colours and composition! Well done!
Claudia

Hi Janice. The very wide angle lens really has a dramatic effect on this scene. The placing of the beach so low in the frame makes the whole thing quite breathtaking. That's Rangitoto in the background, no doubt. A spectacular cloud formation that you caught so promptly.
Regards,
Andrew

Bonjour Janice,
Une superbe image avec part prépondérante d'un ciel immense et bien garni.
Une image qui, pour nous Européens, fait rêver des mers lointaines.
TFS.
Have a good WE !

Hallo my friend from New Zeland!

Hi Janice. Your busy sky contrasts nicely with the calm empty beach. Well captured and thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.
PS I think you will enjoy Waikaremoana (once you get there)

Wow, that's a fabulous sky! I like your choice to include just a lit bit of sea and sand and let the most of the photo by "taken" by the clouds. Also, good DoF driving our eyes till far in the horizon.

Serwus Janice !
This is a beautifull photo. Skilfully chosen proportion for sea and sky makes it extremaly pleasent to look at. The deatails of fantastic clouds are unbelievable. The distant land with its dominating hill is very nice addition and allows to focus sight. All in all, clear and lovely Work.
Best wishes,
Mat

Janice
I like shots like this where a beautiful sky dominates the virtually the whole of the image and ignoring the "rule of thirds" with regards to composition works well in shots like these
Regards Colin
