Photographer’s Note

Dear friends:
So close & yet so far...only 25 Km from Santiago the capital of Chile there is still a "timely oasis" far away from the "rat race" urban life with so called modernity & progress.
Here the lettuce still grow slowly at their own pace, naturally bringing all their crispness & flavour.

Hello Robert.
I like the change up here. The repetition of the heads of lettuce works very well in the foreground. Lovely green, and it looks as though this was taken early in the morning, am I right? Two slight things to help, the scene seems to be tilted slighty up to the right. Also the sky is a little overexposed, because it looks like your shooting into the sun. The light can be great with these shots, but it plays havok with the sky...I have many shots I love with burnt out skys.

Hola Robert,

Hermosa imagen rural y siempre resulta extraño pensar que podemos encotrarnos con estos "oasis" cerca de ciudades como Santiago o Buenos Aires (o Sao Paulo, también). Me gusta mucho la iluminación y la manera en que has dejado que los surcos con lechugas llenen la imagen, creando un efecto muy atractivo. En lo personal el cielo más claro no me incomoda, ya que está dominado por esa luz amarillenta del sol.

Respecto de los comentarios de (y con) Chris, si es que deseas superponer las imágenes, no necesitas tomar más que una foto (idealmente en RAW y expuesta hacia la deracha del histograma -es decir, sobre medios tonos a luces- dado que se "recupera" mejor de las sombras que de las luces).

Después, al convertir, lo haces con diferentes EVs, copias los resultados uno sobre otro y combinas la imagen en PS (usando el "borrador").

A little dislike for the grass in fg. perhaps you consider to crop them ?? Just to give the similiarity to the whole image.

Hello Robert,
I like the lines and the effect of lighting in the background!
Well framed scenery, I like the composition with the repeating lines in the lettuce...
Good colours and nice details, the backlight is well used and brings life to the field!

Hi Robert,
The low light gives these heads of lettuce a slightly golden glow which adds a bit of mystery to this nature's bounty.
