Photographer’s Note
It is a pelican head.On a pier he allowed me to come very close, didn´t move, just looked in the camera very seriously. He decided to fly away after I made this shot.Thank you for your patience, Pelican.

This was well worth trying for the detail, colour and texture is superb, back of the head is just dropping out of focus, but that doesnt seem to harm the picture especially with that beady blue eye watching you. very good picture

Details of a photo are perfectly traced. I like this clearness. It enables to see all and to not set questions. A good shot with well put focus. Bravo! Very good work

It's a really different close point of view and innovating, I never saw a pelican from so close. We can defenitly see each details of the bird, but is it really worth it for losing the animal itself? I am not quite sure. But thank you for daring this new perspective.

Delightful animals and delightful photograph. I had a close encounter of a similar kind also in Florida (Key West) early this month which I documented here. Like your encounter, it also allowed me to come very close. It also just looked at the camera - I swear that he was posing, just like your pelican.
I love the details and the clarity even to the tiniest feathers. I also like the way you filled the frame with just half of the head. I was experimenting a similar framing in another site. Yours turned out well and probably would look even strangier if you totally crop the sky out of the picture and then saturated the colors some more (see workshop, just for fun). Congratulations!

I like this shot very much. I posted a very similar shot awhile back of a pelican I captured on the beach. Yours is much better. Great detail in this, nice work.
