Great capture. What menacing clouds. Good color and light. Well done.
humanist (695) 2006-08-31 20:04
Wonderful light and colour. I love the contrast of the soft "S" curve of the river compared with the hard lines of the rocks.
Manamo (3710) 2006-08-31 20:04
This is one rare trilogy where the third one is as good as the first!:)
The exposure and DOF you chose is just perfect to provide nice details and texture on the rocks and overall colors. The colors of the river is so beautiful. You captured the scene like a master! It is not going to be an easy task to choose which one is the best! For me, this one is the best, wider is better;D
rocketrouge (509) 2006-08-31 20:14
Beautiful colors, very intense. Must have even been better standing there and taking the picture.
daddo (27756) 2006-08-31 20:14
Hi Ryan. Marvellous landscape. Vast, inhospitable looking if it wasn't for the appealing green. Excellent PoV and light in the foreground. The dark sky adds to the drama of the scene. Well done. Regards. Klaudio
jmdias (67861) 2006-08-31 20:27
I can say nothing less than : Masterpiece.
POV, Colors, light, shapes. Everything is its perfect way. The rain arriving and the spots of strong light here and there are fantastis
timleahy (2195) 2006-08-31 20:33
Superb image. Depth of fiend is most impressive. The saturated colours are excellent. You captured a wonderful stormy sky, in a place where the sky is usually just plain blue.
jwmunro (286) 2006-08-31 21:07
Good evening Ryan -
WOW, WOW, and WOW again! What gorgeous image! I love the saturated colors and the light on the river and the far canyon wall. Print this a large as it will go, matte it, frame it, and hang in a conspicuous place.
Thank you for sharing this image.
blakitan (1311) 2006-08-31 21:58

Hello Ryan. The exposure is perfectly mastered. The light pouring on the water is a must. Really superb palette of tonalities and lots of details.
carper (96) 2006-09-01 0:48
fantastic view Ryan,
this is a perfect landsape almost 3 D, it give me that feeling, the quality is great, the depth is fantastic even as the light and the good lines in the shot, very good job, my compliments for it.
vedra (0) 2006-09-01 1:06
Wonderful photo of the canyon dominated by the yellow rocks. The green colour is giving some softness to this landscape. The greyish sky looks pretty threatening and creates very interesting light on the scene as there is some sunlight too.
marjan (7) 2006-09-01 1:10
hi Ryan, excelent shot with fantastic coloures and compo. TFS
sam224 (6215) 2006-09-01 1:16

Just on word : Outstanding.
luisafonso (862) 2006-09-01 3:11
Ah these Velvia's of yours Ryan. They are sooo good! The colors here are really amazing and so is your control of light. I remember the previous ones, checked them again. This one might well be your best exposure. The composition is wonderful, with loth of depth with that S shaped river getting all the credits. The light in the water is amazing. This is real landscape photography.
hamerek (466) 2006-09-01 3:25

Muse (34962) 2006-09-01 5:25
Une très belle composition aux superbes couleurs chaudes.
Excellents POV et cadrage, lumière parfaite.
Un ciel qui donne une atmosphère très particulière à ce lieu.
De très beaux contrastes et une photo parfaitement nette.
Have a good day

Hi Ryan, the managing of exposure is terrific. This shot has a so great variety of details and the deepness of colours is astonishing.
larssolb (301) 2006-09-01 7:42
Breathtaking! Beautiful colors with exciting clouds. I found this shot the most exciting one of your three postings. Splendid!
craiggc (2509) 2006-09-01 8:59
A stunning image Ryan, and possibly the best of the three - the light and saturation have really come together here.
Huge DOF and that meandering river make the composition work really well.
kebek (5438) 2006-09-01 10:42
Serwus Ryan !
Probably the best example to show some advantages of analog photography. All was written above.
nicole80 (2163) 2006-09-01 11:09
What a fantastic view !! I like the contrast between the luminous brown rocks, the dramatic sky and the green grass.
Very impressive !
darrasin (2860) 2006-09-01 11:56
Excellent work Ryan! I've been to this overlook a couple times so I'm familiar with it. For me what makes this work is the cloudy sky with a little bit of sun shining thru to spotlight the green vegetation. It was a wonderful moment to capture. And I think it's that sky that provided even lighting.
benkrut (2407) 2006-09-01 18:16
It's a wonderful picture and there's no comment about it. But I liked the previous one more - it was more natural. Maybe it's because I knew that one very well looking at it before I went to Arizona?
Probably you applied a little too much colours and sharpness to the foreground and my eyes don't feel well about it. Reasuming it would be better if you used in PS the same settings as you did with the other picture.
dolin (7369) 2006-09-02 7:50
Des couleurs à tomber ! Le jeu de lumière est splendide.
J'adore ton PP, ca lui donne un côté incroyable, une sacrée atmosphère.
C'est tout simplement superbe
Elaine_Blath (8509) 2006-09-06 5:40
and another stunning one...
Take care, Ivana
Danzi (2461) 2006-09-12 4:14
Fantastic shot Ryan!
Your shot is really powerful! Lovely colours and tones of this beautiful Horseshoe Bend near the city of Page. Superb view with the combination of light and shadow in the canyon, plus the dark clouds in the back ground made the view even more dramatic. . The light is just fantastic and the dark clouds
I enjoy it a lot and thanks for sharing!
Lynette (1615) 2006-09-13 5:56
Hi Ryan, just love it. (polarizer i see, can hardly wait to start using mine).
Superb shot, nicely captured and a beautiful canyon.
Sharp, nice details and neat image.
Brilliantly composed. Well done.

Fantastic composition here. The colors are spectacular with everything working out perfectly. I've seen photos from this area before, but you managed to make yours unique enough to stand out. Nice job,
anducina (8407) 2006-09-27 6:58
Another excellent photo. That dramatic sky, the rocks of different shapes and textures, the river (or creek or whatever) half in light, half in shadow, this bush from the FG--all are absolutely superb.
teutza (10590) 2006-10-11 15:48
what colours..you really are making wonders with that camera:)
batalay (40177) 2006-10-19 6:16
You are a gifted nature photographer. This is a fabulously compelling view, one that would have mesmerized Ansel Adams. There is a surrealistic quality, in the composition, color and definition. Regards from Virginia, Bulent
aralda (1240) 2006-10-20 11:21
Wow! Amazing light and colors!
That green really stands out, but it seems a little too saturated...
mlopes (494) 2006-10-20 16:53
This is absolutly great, i really think it's a great composition. Everything looks like it should be.
I've read your intro, i belive you still know the meaning of this.
Vato_Law (12732) 2006-10-21 16:07
The light and colours along with the view creates such a magnificent photo Ryan! Your POV enhances so well the textures and details of the rocky mountains! The river running downstairs and it's shape leads our eyes through the photo, and makes us explore every single inch of this fantastic photo.
Isab (865) 2006-10-24 7:24
Bravo!!
fap77 (506) 2006-11-06 14:07

crhieatt (5347) 2007-07-11 13:49
In so far as dial up internet connection will allow (not much) I've been having a closer look a your gallery - it's all fantastic, quality, stuff, and this one is certainly no exception. I only wish I had broadband on the go, then I could get a good look at everything without being up half the night!!
Wandering_Dan (3449) 2007-08-30 16:42
Incredible use of light, shadow and overall composition. Very dramatic cloudscape, and the bit of sunlight hitting the river adds to it.
jean11-3 (2799) 2007-10-05 4:10
Hello Ryan, this shot has everything; a great viewpoint, fantastic colours and clarity.
The dark clouds look ominous and yet the sun is shining on the rocks bringing out their rich colours.
Mistral (15402) 2007-11-25 9:29
Wonderful image perfectly executed!
AnaRita (1741) 2007-12-22 3:44

npecanhuk (77591) 2008-04-03 10:39
Just love matching a picture to its naming!
You do it perfectly...
What an image! The place itself is already astonishingly beautiful... but, you've captured it at the right time... some sun (maybe) against some storm coming up!

InasiaJones (31566) 2008-06-25 10:04
This is a photo to admire. You just don't open it and begin to write a comment. This is too spectacular to do just this.
It's like one of these fancy plates they serve at the 200$ per person restaurant... You take a look at your plate before picking your fork. And you take little bites. This ain't no Big Mac...
I'll be there next year. If I can come back with only one photo like this one, my hearth will be filled. Should I go and mention the nice foreground, the spot of light and amazing clouds? No, I'll just say it's beautiful. And if nobody else is reading this note, then I'll say it's perfect.
rajhema (1873) 2009-01-23 11:18
I was at the same place 2 years ago but mine is no match to yours. Weather plays a major role in this spectaculr 3d look like picture. Great one Ryan
Yves-triga (5149) 2009-08-04 8:03
wonderfull shoot, light and colors are sublim,
jocduerr (217) 2010-01-22 5:14
I like the strong colors, and the place is certainly one of the great scenic spots in Arizona.
You are lucky to have captured some some greens, when we where at this place some years ago - mainly red and dusty.
