Photographer’s Note
This is my final entry for the bird portrait gallery.
They are everywhere, aren't they ?
Also in Hamburg, where it is now forbidden by law to feed them. Maximum fine 5000 EURO !!!
I always knew that London is a cheap city, there it is only 70 EURO ;-)
There is just one difference. I bet in London they really pursue this policy, while in Hamburg the police stated officially that no one cares...
Strange world !

Wow great close shot ! Particularly for the fine texture of feathers, a DOF very well controlled and a thougthful eye for this nice bird.

Hi Jan,
At last here your are! What a beautiful picture you have posted here. So close and so sharp. Very, very good job. The colors of the bird are realy great. And what a great DOF. You did a great job here.

It is as it would sit righ in front of me!
Excellent colours, sharpness, DOF. The blurred background let the "air" flow.
Very well seen and done, Jan.

Beautiful colours and great detail in this shot. You have managed to make this bird look very attractive. The ones here are not so nice.

Very sharp, focus right on spot, and with the greyish tones in the background and a large part of his feather coat, the coloured parts really stand out. Very well done Jan!
Great note too! ;-)

A very nice picture of a bird that nobody cares much. You can see in this photo that even in La Paz, at some 3700m above sea level, doves have adapted very well. It seems that wherever humans go, they go as well.
I like most how you captured the green brilliant part in the 'neck'.

Excellent detail in this one, Jan. The pigeon almost looks like 3D, as if it were about to jump out of my monitor and onto my desk (I'd rather not have that happen). Fine texture and colors on the bird's plumage, well done.
Good note as well. Pretty much the same down here in the southwest, although I'd have to find out what the maximum fine for pigeon feeding in the Stuttgart - Tübingen - Reutlingen area would be ...

Very sharp details.. The bird seems to be posing, it looks so proud for this portrait ! Just one question : did you communicate with it ? ;-)

Nice portrait and details. I liked your note, but I thought people, and aspecially the police in Germany are more accurate ;-) I found it very strange, that there is a being on Earth which is forbidden to feed. The most strange is that no one react, just imagine a sign saying do not feed dogs or lions. I do not like that the way to solve a problem is let them die. The Macro portrait of this pigeon, and your story together is very impressive, and painful to look his / her somehow sad sight.
Thanks for sharing!

The detail in the photo is just excellent, Jan. Beautiful colours too. Good DOF, with a slight motion blur in the background. Well seen and captured.

Milanese pigeons aren't so much different from German pigeons. They are one of the symbol of my city. I note they are serious and it seems they like to be photographed. They are vain. Good bird portrait. Will it ever possible to take both eyes of this bird? :-)
