Photographer’s Note

Moraine Lake is a glacially fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 kilometres outside the Village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6183 feet (1884 m).

The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. However, when it is full, it is a beautiful shade of blue. The lake gets its color from the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis.

I took this shot in late May on what began as a sunny afternoon, but later on that day it began to snow, and it didn't stop snowing. Before the snow began I could take this picture with the lake partially frozen.
And with the beautiful mountains on the background it made me feel I never wanted to leave this magical place.......
