Photographer’s Note

I was up at Kaapschehoop yesterday looking for the wild horses when I found them all around one of the old buildings, as my post of yesterday showed. This was one of the foals. Here is some history about Kaapschehoop:

Kaapschehoop (pronounced kaap-se-hoop) is full of legends of gold and horses. It's history dates all the way back to 1721 according to the Dutch East India Company records.

Kaapschehoop is about 30 kms away from Nelspruit in the Mpumalanga Province. It is a very small village with a very diverse culture.

The wild horses apparently originate from the release of pit ponies hundreds of years ago.

Today, they roam the area and are about 75 strong, giving birth to a good number of foals all year round.

Tech: Cropped tight, adjusted levels slightly, increased contrast, sharpened and added a frame. Hope you like it.
