Milkyway Over Yale

Yale Lake is located in southwestern Washington State. It is a favorite destination for our family. The glow on the horizon is the city of Portland, OR located about 40 miles away. This lake is also very near Mt Saint Helens Volcano.
This was taken at 10:15pm. The night was warm, clear, and had little wind. There was a sliver moon but it had already set by about 7pm. The smudge in the middle of the sky is the Milky Way. |
