Photographer’s Note

The Merzouga sand dunes are one of those places that we dream about when the Sahara desert comes into our dreams. The dunes are located just 20 miles from the cities of Erfoud and Rissani and it seems an island of sand in the middle of the rocky sea around them.

I took this picture at 5.30 a.m., at sunrise. The man in blue is one of the 'berberes' (a people that lived in the territory even before the arrival of arabs) that guides the tourists through the gorgeous dunes escalade, hoping to sell some handcraft besides a good conversation. I found intriguing the way this man looked determined to go somewhere, given that no tourists or anything else could be seen in that direction. My blindness for sure...

This is a really interesting picture. The shadows created throughout the sand dunes makes for neat variance in colour. I really like how the man walking stands out all dressed in blue against the sandy background. In this case, something to try would be to crop the shot making the person off center to the left creating a different mood to the shot. Nice work.

I like this photo very much, nice textures created by the sand dunes, a good contrast of colours with the blue and the orange.
The way the man is walking could be a scene out of a TinTin comic. Well captured.

Belle photo du désert avec la présence de cet
homme en bleu,les couleurs sont contrastantes.
Du beau travail.Intéressant aussi ces plans successifs de dunes avec une lumière rasante.
