Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken as we waited to board the Ghan Train half way through its journey from Darwin to Adelaide.
The journey from Darwin to Adelaide takes 21 hours and travels through many miles of red semi-desert before reaching the arable farmland regions outside Adelaide.
The name "Ghan" is in tribute to the teams of Afghan Camel travellers who undertook the journey before the train was introduced, and is commemorated in the large bronze statue that you can see in the picture.
