Newport Beach Pier in Orange County, California.
Orange County, California is blessed with several sandy beaches and ocean piers like the one pictured here.
The piers are very popular with locals and visitors alike as they offer great views of the ocean and frequently surfers. Although not shown, this one has a restaurant at the end of it. The piers are also a great place to fish, watch shore birds and generally just hang out.
The piers are also popular with photographers and it can be hard to find compositions that haven't been done before.
In this image, I was intrigued with the post-sunset sky reflecting in the water around the pier legs. In the distance, you can see the lights of the off shore oil rigs.
This was shot about 20 minutes after sunset and I exposed for about 45 seconds to create the soft wake.

But seems to have noise
some noise reduction could make it even better
Pleas check the workshop for result

This seems like aliens landing on earth!
This is absolutely one of my favorites!

The color of the sea, it seems that you were doing too much post processing, that I could not almost see the reflection on the water as you can see in the natural one, IMHO, it is not just clear enough, too soft..

Shooting from the bottom of a pier in the middle of a sunset or dusk, especially when the sky is colorful, is always a valuable picture. However, you enhanced it a lot by keeping the shutter open for staggering 45s and allowing the fuzzy texture of the sea water. Great!
Obviously you have noise in your picture. No wonder here with dusk and a long exposure, but you know what? It doesn't bother at all the overall impression.

Wow, nicely done! We are heading out to CA this week and plan on visiting Anapaca Island (notice you have started a travel log, thanks) and the desert. Hope to get a creative capture of the sunset. You have a great one here and the tripod is a must, I see. Have to pack that too. Very impressive colors, just beautiful.

The pier makes a great frame for the beautiful sunset!! I didn't realize there were so many oil rigs off Newport. I must be oblivious since we have sailed through here many times.
