Photographer’s Note
At the conclusion of an amazing day (of moving camp, rafting and numerous wildlife encounters) the midnight sun painted the landscape. As many of you know there are moments when a photo can't do nature justice and this was one of those moments.
Pictured to the left is the edge of a thin stretch of land scarred with recent caribou tracks, where I camped. Further to the right a pool of water from melted Auf eis, Auf eis icebergs and Auf eis itself. In the distance over the Auf eis rising mist, fog and clouds caught in the Kongakut River valley.
A daily journal and photo summary of my trip can be seen on my web site if curious. Day 6 has been added (8/10) and Day 7 (8/14).

Hi Jim, wonderful reflection and colors even if the mountains are a bit dark. A chance to enjoy such a sunset landscape in this area. Thanks

Hello Jim,
Nice picture with a great ambiance created by the foreground water, the foggy atmosphere.

Hi Jim, Wonderful shot.
As you say, it may not do the reality justice - but it certainly has a damn good crack at it!
The composition is thing I like best here - the fact that all the colours in the sky can ONLY be seen in the reflection.
Very nice.

Colin

Hello, Jim
Two things make thiis photo stand out to me. First, the thin line of mist at the surface of the water in the distance. It has a slightly surreal look from that. Second, the fact that you shot so much more of the reflection of the sky than the real sky. You were lucky to find water this calm. The reflection is the soul of this shot. Excellent job!
