the smooth shapes and the sharp edges between light and dark are very nice. the image also captures the empty feelng of a desert.

Excellent POV and choice of time to take this shot. The sunlight doesn't have anymore the deadly effect, but gives now smooth contrasts in the valleys and sharp edges on the ridges. Nice panoramic view of the Death Valley.
A polarizing filter might have given a better contrast in the sky.
