Photographer’s Note
In the Strengberg tobacco factory has been manufactured tobacco since 1762. After 326 years (1998) the production is ending in favour of other manufactures. The museum displays old machinery and stuff used in producing tobacco. It is the oldest tobacco factory in Finland.
The most recent building with its strange clock tower (on the picture) was created by the architect Torben Grut and finished in 1910.
In the beginning of the XXth century, the factory was the biggest employer in this little town. It was the biggest tobacco factory in Finland where cigarettes, snuff (some kind of little bag with wet tobacco that you put under your upper lip) and handmade cigars for Finland’s presidents!
