Photographer’s Note
The tide was coming in rapidly and it was starting to rain, but I could not miss this fantastic sunset. I took a few more shots as the water started to lap around my feet, but what the heck I was enjoying myself.
The location is Wrabness on the river Stour, not far from the port of Harwich.

Certainly has something about it even though it is almost a 50 50 split. Keeps drawing the eye in.

The rays are almost like spotlights and you have captured the reflection and colour well. I like the foreground for its colour and contrast with the sky. I think the 50/50 split works well in this case as the sea and sky are quite different

Hi Trevor, you've got some lovely photos on your gallery but this is definitely one of my favourites.
I love sunrise / sunset shots and this is a classic. What I particularly like is the pinkish-grey clouds at the top and the fact that you've retained some greenery in the foreground.
It also proves that rules "are for the obeyance of fools and the guidance of wise men"!!
Regards,
Paul.

Hi Trevor...I have seen this phenomenon over the Blackwater Estuary from the oyster beds just beyond the seawall at Goldhanger. The red glowing sun, the water as still as glass....and not a whisper of breeze. The sky actually rippled with orange light as the sun transitioned to darkness....it was almost a mystical experience...and left an impression on me. This shot is quiet and powerful in its simplicity. The rays of light and water just work together. No need for anything else. Good shot.
