Perfect composition man, Nice POV and very good DOF
davido (1982) 2006-07-29 5:05
Many time since I haven't seen your photos. But your sense of composition has not disappeared, I note that you are always improving, that's cool. In this shot everything seems important, with the man as the beginning of the different lines. I like the fact that the arrow is not entirely caught, and the reflections due to the rain... Congratulations for the contest.

A very good monsoon shot. The positioning of the person is nice.
Very good atmosphere and mood.

An amazing 'geometric' pic. I like all the shapes here, especially the triangles formed by the bridge and road, also the one on the ground. Good complex compo of many things and nice reflection of the person. excellent shot. so much to see.
ps congratz for winning contest.
also u may wanna check the link..its not working properly

Nice POV and very good atmosphere!

Ah f/22 :) And I can see why... This is good Rafal. All about composition. The diagonals, the rule of the thirds, the depth of field. This is really a photography lesson. Love your grainy b&w. It lends a incredible mood to the scene and throws it to somewhere in the past. Very sensitive stuff. Love it.
PS. Congratulations on the prize. That photo is really amazing. That face in the background is soooo beautiful...

Nice shot, less elf-conscious (an spectacular9 than yesteray, you know... Nice perspective and use of the landscape frame. Good timin too and Nb treatment.
adrost (2378) 2006-07-29 6:32
Oj wczoraj bylo cieplej, dynamiczniej i nieco ciekawiej.
sunilshukla (844) 2006-07-29 6:45
Wat can i say 2 the master himself? But I hav 2 say smoethin like good POV and DOF or i may get this deleted ! Wat the hell...I just like this 4 the mood it creates.
pridel (233) 2006-07-29 6:49
You are really a champion to arrest a man in a graphic environment. The signalitique on the ground, the rainy atmosphere, the umbrella of the man make a good photo.
love the noise.

Well it is good to see you toss in a conventionally-framed photo for a change, Rafal. That's not meant to be a negative comment at all, rather the contrary as the composition is perfectly appropriate and well balanced with the guy coming at us and the strong triangular perspective element provided by the lines and shapes on the foreground road. Contrasty b&w is nice on this one. Being in favor of song titles, I would probably have called this "I walk the line".

less impacting than the one from yesterday in color; this one is somewhat deceiving IMO;-( i just read it won a contest, so i guess i am swimming against the tide, but i don't really care! ;-))
t0mmm1 (5440) 2006-07-29 9:48
excellent diagonal composition, beautiful geometry with all that lines and milestones and bridge... excellent.
Have a nice day.

...I am waiting for tomorrow's one.
This one is simple but very clever framing.
markoci (3927) 2006-07-29 11:11
i'm afraid i'm with eric on this one.. apart from the pleasing converging lines, this one doesn't do much for me... (i.e. rather boring..) i have no choice but two give you the two smileys though since i criticized one of your recent shots not having enough documentary merits :-).. this one sure does, one of the reasons i'm sure why it was (deservingly) awarded.. congrats!
ps reminds me somehow of sasa's pigeons by the danube..

I think you are giving us an important advice, walk and do some exercise despite rain and thunders to decrease your weight and belly, this is what the gentleman and I need.
Excellent B&W shot captured with a very good POV and DOF in a rainy day. Well done.
ChrisJ (96610) 2006-07-30 1:17
I like the superb tonal range, excellent sharpness, diminishing linear perspective, & repetition of the concrete barrier posts. Well done!

I look at your pictures with the eyes of a learner. And there are so many things to learn here. But the best lesson i get from your images, is how to keep things simple.

ciekawie z tymi kałużami, efekt odbijania od nich dodaje takiegi "chłodu" temu zdjeciu;
Graal (96760) 2006-07-30 16:10
Dobry reporta¿.
sayan (2617) 2006-07-31 7:48
What I like most in your compositions is the presence of some geometry everywhere. Here also I see some strong graphical lines, making a good composition. The white strips on the road, the arrow, the borders on the poles on the roadside-everything is making a strong geometric presence.
The man is nicely placed in the frame, his motion can be understood from the slight blur of his right leg.
everlasting (14618) 2006-08-01 7:52
How many arrows are there in Korea, and have you captured them all yet, Rafal? :)
A very jinjuesque compo, the B&W conversion, the perfect framing. So simple but so pleasign for the eye.
PS Congratulations on the contest.

Your opus probably is the most recognizable here, i suppose, gimme some more time and i'll be able to recognize your photo without the name of the author:)))
Great style, all yours, and admireble point of wiew...
