I took this out of my hotel window on a grey winter's morning. It was raining and the buildings in the distance were veiled by a light fog, which I think gives this shot a certain atmosphere.
I scanned this from a black and white negative and increased the contrast slightly before sharpening.
I hope it serves as a cooling antidote to this unbearably hot weather that we're experiencing in Northern Europe at the moment.

Certainly gives new york a bit of a real Gothic look doesn't it. I think it looks great.

a nice photo of NY. It shows how I would like to see it one day. The b&w give an old like atmosphere (50's or 60's)... I don't know why it reminds me a photo of Marilyn Monroe on the rooftop of a building, completely different but the same atmosphere...

Quite a nostalgic pic! The compo is fantastic. I like the overlapping of buildings and the repetition effect. The misty background is impressive and gives NY its classic look. good shot, so much to see YEt it's very 'clear' - not all over the place.

Très bonne photo, avec ce premier plan sombre et l'arrière plan terne, presque transparent.
Cela donne un très bel effet.

Hi Ben, yes there is a "certain atmosphere" in this one .. I love those urban landscapes and this one from Manhattan is excellent, particular rainy grainy darky mood :)

Waouw, that's NY !
B&W is a perfect choice, I like the silhouette of the buildings in the background.
Another great shot from "Big Apple"
Very well done !

This is the first time that I see your portfolio Ben, I find it great, compliments, you have a lot of images that I could appreciate, this the first because one of the last ones, the atmosphere is great and the B&W too, well done, compliments.

Nice, and dramatic shot with lots of atmosphere. The contrast you've introduced is good and gives the shot a period feel. Concerning the heat - I love it!!

A classic treatment here of a much photographed place. If you'll forgive the point, I too have a lot of good imagery on film, but I haven't invested in a good scanner. If I did maybe I would shoot more film.

Love it, Ben! Maybe because that was precisely the view and the weather I had when stayed in NYC for a couple of months... The elements in foreground give a human dimension and the buildings wrapped in fog are great.. but overall is the choice of B&W that makes it! Congratulations, Daniel

I hadn't seen this one.
It is a great POV over Lower East Side, I like the Woolworth shadow above the picture.
