Photographer’s Note

Last chance for a few minutes paddling before the sun goes down on Oreti Beach, on the south coast of New Zealand's South Island.

It was on this beach that Burt Munro would test the 1920 Indian motorcycle that he had rebuilt many times over nearly 50 years before taking it to Bonneville where he set a world record for its class.

Sir Anthony Hopkins portrayed Burt in the 2005 movie 'The World's Fastest Indian'.

Love the effect of the waves, beach, distance landscape and sky all acting in unison as a colourful abstract canvas for the oarsman. Beautifully envisaged.

very good image!I like specially, the orange-yellow colours that gives the touch for this composition, and the parallel waves gives a sensation of frozen movement...

Great photo Keith, with good composition, fantastic colours, and a couple of sea birds thrown in at no extra cost. The depth of field keeps the picture in focus right to the bottom. The waves make an almost abstract pattern. The paddling man gives a focus to the picture that adds more interest.
