Whittier alaska is a scenic small town that serves as a tourist port. I reserved in
Major marine Tours. Tickets are about 140 dollars each and it is about 6 hours of cruise taking us to the spectacular Blackstone Glaciers. I don't want to keep posting the mountains only pictures so this picture I posted along with water front. To get to whittier we can take the train from Anchorage. Trains are very slow but one might really enjoy the panoramic view. I chose to use car because I will have the freedom to stop at any place I want. about 3 miles from whittier we are blocked by a huge mountain and we have to use the shared Anton Anderson Tunnel on Chugach mountains. It is a one lane, 2.5 mile tunnel used by both trains and automobiles. Lots of safety precautions are suggested prior to entering. It is one way so at every half hour you can enter through one way only. Thus we need to time the entry. If we get later within the half hour time, we may be delayed only to enter in the next hour slot. So chances of missing the cruise is very high.

I should mention the cruise. It is designed with a buffet lunch and for first 1 hour they begin serving food. our tour began with a detailed narration of the place by park ranger and a tasty food. it lasts for an hour. we really liked the tour and chose to use the same service from seward for wildlife watching as well. By this time we are very close to viewing the scenic glacier rivers. I will post the glaciers soon.

Rajesh an interesting and beautiful place indeed. To offer a few suggestions on post processing I can see that a little leveling is needed for this lake. In order to capture a little more detail in this photo its a good idea to use sharpening after you have changed the photo down to the 800 pixel size limit for TE. Then apply Save for Web which will bring your photo just under the 200KB limit for your photo. Try this out to see the difference. Cheers and thanks.

Hi Rajesh
nice picture, I like the colors and view in this, it isnt that clear IMO. Nevertheless it is a good picture.
