We're so lucky to see the rainbow over the monuments. The wind was very strong; the tripod wasn't a big helper that evening.

Monument Valley is located on the southern border of Utah with northern Arizona. The valley lies within the range of the Navajo Nation Reservation near the town of Goulding and is accessible from U.S. Highway 163. The Navajo name for the valley is Tsé Bii' Ndzisgaii (Valley of the Rocks).
Monument Valley provides perhaps the most enduring and definitive images of the American West. The isolated red mesas and buttes surrounded by empty, sandy desert have been filmed and photographed countless times over the years for movies, adverts and holiday brochures. Because of this, the area may seem quite familiar, even on a first visit, but it is soon evident that the natural colours really are as bright and deep as those in all the pictures. The valley is not a valley in the conventional sense, but rather a wide flat, sometimes desolate landscape, interrupted by the crumbling formations rising hundreds of feet into the air, the last remnants of the sandstone layers that once covered the entire region.

Bonjour Henryk
Superbe cliché de cet endroit magique. Belle luminosité avec ce ciel tourmenté. J'y étais l'été dernier. C'est un souvenir inoubliable.
Merci pour le partage et bon week-end.

Hi Henryk!...Fantastic moment you caught there...Of course it is also the picture which I like that much, but for me the unknown landscape is almost more amazing...I've never been to a desert so I still have to build my image how it has to be in my mind...therefore I need such pics as you did and because of that I love that kind of picture!

Regards Oli

A very beautiful and well arranged landscape with marvelous colors and a wonderful rainbow. Very beautifully. Many greetings, Wolfgang

Hi Henryk,
Beautiful decisive shot! The Lighting si simply amazing and you've focused that rainbow perfectly, and framed it well - surrouding it with all four rock monuments. Great textures and details too. Congratz!!

Hi Henryk
Looking at this photo I have an impression that it is 3-dimentional. Light is going through several zones: from deep dramatic, and the rainbow, working as a divining line, to a dreamy horizon with fluffy clouds. The drama is enhanced by a hole in the clouds, which seems to try to swallow the far-right rock. The rocks? We saw them at movies. They are amazing.
Cheers
Roman

Hi Henryk,
The spectacularity and the beauty of the Monument Valley you have caught it in a while of impressive light, and you have been able to make this still more beautiful landscape in your photo.
The definition is perfect, we can see with clarity all the details and textures of rocks, the clouds in the sky are impressive, and the rainbow adds a precious detail.
The illumination with the sun so low gives warm tones to the photo, and great and beautiful shades.
The photo has in addition a great depth.
Excellent!
Regards,
Josep

Nice capture of a rare moment, the rainbow add a touch of magic, great job,
vincent

You lucky dog! A rainbow right in Monument Valley! I'm very jealous. I like how well you've captured this unique moment. They composition is great. Some parts look a little over exposed, but it's still a wonderful photo.

Ryan

Doesn't get much better than this. If you could knock down the brightness on the rock at the right, it would be even perfect

Hello Henryk,
very nice shot, excellent light and weather conditions. The pov is very good and the perspective is great. Fantastic postcard of one of my favorite places in the world. Unfortunately I missed what was the highlight of my trip in the States, because of a storm (called Nora!!) which did not permit the departure of the small plain from LV. Maybe in the future... Nice work! TFS and all the best!

Probably the best Monument Valley's picture here on TE.. absolutely GREAT!!

"Marlboro land"...impressive place specially in this weather - dark clouds and rainbow gave the picture specific feeling. Probably you had luck to catch this kind of weather in this arid place. To me this happend at Death Valley this year and it was a strong emotional experience. Very nice shot!

Fenomenal la composicion Bravo

Hi Henryk,

Great great colours and very fine POV. And the rainbow adds some more magic to it all... it's the non-permanent special element...

And the sky... you were offered great photographing conditions, and unlike most you made the best of them...

I would just probably not have emphasized the rocks in the foreground so much... I think they are taking a little bit too much space in the photo...
