This image was taken just to justify the amazing colouration seen in this region. Taupo is a town of 20,310 people, and sits on the shores of Lake Taupo, New Zealand's largest body of water. Downstream from this point is the famous Huka Falls, a 15 metre fault line crack which spills a torrent of blue through a chasm. The three layers of colour in this shot are basic, yet naturally remarkable, and I am yet to see cleaner water than this! The lush forest and rock textures also caught my eye. To the south of Taupo is Mt. Ruapehu, in Tongariro National Park. People were bungee jumping of a platform not far from this spot, over a cliff 47 metres high. I love that from this point-of-view, I can see the cliff face well below the water line. The river is the Waikato River, New Zealand's longest. Hope you all like this one for colour!

Hello,
really impressive and interesting colours. But I personally would prefer somewhat more of the water with its colours and a bit less of the rocks on the top of the photo. All in all, very nice. Best regards Kristof

Hi matthew, yes, i like the simpleness of it all. and indeed...98% pure water! the other 2% ??? fish of course :-) not pollution like we have in Europe !

the water indeed looks spectacular! the rock is a little overexposed by the looks of it, but nothing major. Maybe an idea for the frame (which i like)....i saw Henk Meijer uses a bit of noise in the white frames. gives it a little bit extra and actually gives a little bit less clean look to the white. Maybe something to try :-)

comp/dof and pov are all good. WELL done!

With water that clear, I wouldn't be surprise if you saw a trout cruising along this pool. I like the way you kept the composition simple yet effective to emphasize what you meant to portray ... to show the diverse colours of nature. TFS.

Stunning colours! This shot is beautifully sharp and well-composed. Thanks for sharing it!

Hi Matt, A very good colourful photograph of the famous Lake Taupo, scene of one of the largest explosions in time. It is good how this place has changed over the millenia from fire and brimstone, to this placid scenery. Good note, as you are being recognised for. Good work. Murray.
