The almost dead and new born Photo

Photographer’s Note

This was taken in Kamokochi. It was raining on this day, however the misty effect was just amazing and i took so many pictures of this. What intrigued me most was this almost dead trunk with a new growth on the side.

The ducks came when we came and they liked cherries too.

The nature of this place really beats the city, a great escape away from the concrete city. I really liked the effect of the mist at the foot of the mountains, in Japan 70% of the land is full of mountains and this was a great place to view some of the mountains.

Joli paysage brumeux très bien cadré. J'aime beaucoup cette ambiance mystérieuse.

Nice photo Dan.. If you crop some of the river at the bottom bellow the two ducks it would make for a much stronger image. I love the mood and feel of this photo.

well Dan I like it,
a very mistyc shot with the fog, for myself I would crop it from unther a little bit then I would put a frame around, but I like the mistyc, well done.

Beautiful misty mood in this one, Dan. Very nice to see the hazy patches in between the hills and above the water surface, and good compositional interest provided by the dead tree. The ducks and the reflections are nice adds, too.

Very nice and very good this one. After read the critiques, I must say that I think that is not necessary crop the photo: you lost the river and the reflection over the water.

The combination of lush green, mist, water and dead tree trunk here is very exotic, Dan and you managed well in an attempt to convey the atmosphere of the place!

I like how the mist plays a mysterious role as a backdrop & the dead tree provides an intense subject...I really like this composition...very different, tranquil, and beautiful..almost a dreamscape!

This is very strong and moody, Dan. The fog, the dead tree and the new born one, the ducks the reflections, the mountains - all create a magical and hipnotizing atmosphere. Wonderful shot.

Mountains are always my favorite place. Hope one day I will be visiting Japan, but before that I have the entire Himalayan, Karakoram and other mountain ranges in India to see :-)

A beautifull mystic effect. The picture is full of mystery. I really like the contrast between the mystuc parts and the clearer ones, with bright forest green. The dead tree is definitly a plus, as the two birds in the front. And the fog lifting from the valley in a very nice catch.
