Photographer’s Note

J-2 avant mon troisième périple pour le Japon, la fébrilité me gagne, mais j’ai le temps de poster cette dernière photo avant de partir.
Aller sur le petit pont du parc Yoyogi pour photographier des gothic lolitas, c’est amusant, mais y aller pour photographier des otakus comme celui-ci, c’est beaucoup plus réjouissant.
J’ai une certaine affection pour celui-ci. Il était magnifique : il est arrivé, s’est assis pour vérifier son matériel, puis il s’est relevé et est parti pour d’autres aventures photographiques, tranquille et digne comme Takanohana (grand lutteur sumo) après une victoire.

2 days again before my third travel in. Feverishness is coming but I have the time to post this picture before I go.
To go on the little bridge of the Yoyogi park for taking picture of gothic lolitas is fun, but it’s even more fun when there are otakus like this one.
I liked this guy. He was magnificent : he came, sat for checking his material, then he stood up and went way for new photographic adventures, quiet and dignified like Takanohana (great sumo wrestler) after a victory.

Now this one is humorous:) You got a real cool moment that we can all relate to.

For me, photography means walking around for 5 or 6 hours nonstop with no food:) Maybe he is new to it;) Im just joking:)

Le geek de l'appareil photo, c'est comme ca qu'on nous appelle non ;o) trop drole ton image Olivier. Quoi tu y repars, je sais pourquoi, ce monsieur est entrain de faire joujou avec ton Nikon et ca ne te plait pas trop ;o)

i agree.. we can all relate to this, whether we're serious about our photography or doing it as a light hobbie. the time taken to check our work and then moving on to the next experience is important. well done, this definitely tells a great story!

Hi Olivier,
Great shot this...we've all been there, and we can all enjoy the experience through his eyes. This is kind of the digital equivalent to looking through your photos when they've been picked up from the developers! Great candid shot that will be well appreciated here. Thanks for posting it. This is a great shot. Not only is he a very photogenic man himself, but I like the fact that he is so engrossed in what he is doing.
The curse of the digital camera; its all too easy to sit there looking at the screen instead of looking around at the world and taking photos. I'm glad you weren't suffering from this affliction and managed to take this amusing shot.

Elle est marante celle-ci. Voilà pkoi je suis sur canon et non pas sur nikkon ;)
Vraiment pas mal, et cette chaine apporte évidemment un plus.

Voilà une scène bien pittoresque et locale. C'est bien vu. Quand on aime, on ne compte pas son temps. La fébrilité fait partie du métier.

every picture tells a story so they say. The red blotch is a bit distracting but still a lovely moment in the life of a fellow snapper. I wonder if he's a trekker?

Pourquoi parler d'Otaku ? Ici ce mot revêt un sens bien plus grave qu'en France où on l'utilise à bien des sauces sans vraiment que ça choque les gens. Les Japonais utilisent rarement ce mot si ce n'est entre amis parce qu'il a une portée vraiment lourde, proche de la maladie. Il serait peut-être temps que les gens commencent à appréhender la langue avec sa charge de culture.

Pour en revenir à la photo, je la trouve excellente et j'aurais aimé être là moi aussi. Il a l'air tellement concentré que c'est à se demander ce qu'il fait. Quelles sortes de réglages ? Visionne-t-il ses photos de la matinée ? Bref, une photo qui tend à l'ouverture et au questionnement.

A Fantstic catch...
I can relate to this shot, as I have seen may times the local people treating the camera with a pet-like fascination...Even I am so much fond of my instruments, It is more personal & metaphoric.
