An interesting and well divided picture. Left on the fortress the moving apes and right in the background the city lying deeply down. The photo is well composed. Greeting, Wolfgang
sabyasachi1212 (19771) 2006-07-05 9:26
Are you kidding about liking it? I just love it, its that good! Superb DOF! One of your best, thats for sure.
oochappan (22043) 2006-07-05 10:21
compared to your formal shot 'The monkey way' you enhanced this one by a PP colorburn repainting, a technique that has as much impact as a turn to B&W.
This technique was already commonly accepted in landscapes. Some will like it, some don't and that I noticed already by enhancing colors for joy slightly in my shots, but I do appreciate it as my mind says you bring this explicit to another level. On top the subject where you show how monkeys challenge hights on buildings towards the background of the town is very pleasant.
Well done, good example of making this well framed and composed shot with a pleasant subject incongruous by PP. The quality lies by the various techniques here where the PP jumps out as an eye-puller.
P-S-I-G (25532) 2006-07-05 10:51

cherryripe (21033) 2006-07-05 11:43
These monkeys are so cute. What type are they ? They are so sharp and I like how their tails curl around. The texture of the roof is so interesting. Excellent blurry background to set them off.
jjcordier (74512) 2006-07-05 11:50

feather (51130) 2006-07-05 12:12
Fantastic shot. I know these monkeys can be a nuisance, but to me they are very exotic. Excellent composition with the blurred city down below. The monkeys are captured in perfect sharpness.
summersun (4978) 2006-07-05 12:25
good capture, I like the movement of the monkeys and the view behind them, it makes me dizzy ;)
I had a nasty encounter with those monkeys while I was in India, they didn't like the fact that I was taking a picture of them and they wanted to attack me !!
mdetay (4865) 2006-07-05 12:31
This is a nice one. Excellent expressions of the animals. Nice background. Good colors. Everything is captured. Well done.
This is not monkey business!

Hi Vivek, magnificent shot that impresses me by the height in which it seems that they are the MONKEYS, is an image that with your permission I am going away to keep between my favorites, by the good color, the perfect light and mainly by the originality of the photo.
A strong hug from Spain.
PS: in days I go of trip and India to visit your country for the first time, I hope to have good experiences.
lasscor (7640) 2006-07-05 14:42
Great colors, light, pov, textures and sharpness.
I like much the texture of the roof in foreground and the blurred city in background.
ben4321 (9875) 2006-07-05 14:57
This is my favourite shot of yours since the one of the camel you posted a while back.
The pose of the two monkeys is quite comical, they both appear to be looking at the same thing. Maybe they were chasing another monkey, who knows...
The view of the city behind provides an excellent background and helps the viewer to understand where the shot was taken.
This is really excellent, it made me smile as soon as I saw it.
Keep it up.
hdl (6995) 2006-07-05 15:57

abulafia (4900) 2006-07-08 7:27
this shot is amazing, very sharp and colourful, the blurred city as a background is probably what really makes this shot stand out.
danyy (0) 2006-07-10 15:14

Janice (4403) 2006-07-16 5:40
Hi Vivek, what an awesome photo. The monkeys (and you) are so high up and the town below is a long way down. Excellent sharpness of the monkeys, and the rotting and rusty roof. Well doine
Please don't reply as I accept your thanks.

jinju (14265) 2006-07-22 5:46
I keep clicking on your profile and this one keep taunting me, just asking to be critiqued. Its a superb shot, both in how youve composed this and how you postprocessed it. The bokeh is really nice, which is usually something Id associate with a DSLR but your camera isnt one. I think you were really helped by the distance between the foreground and the background. The postprocessing here is fantastic. What exactly did you do?
banyanman (7789) 2006-07-31 9:13
Hi Vivek. I can understand why this image has attracted so many comments - it's just great and really stands out as something different. The contrast between your in-focus monkeys and the coloured buildings in the background is just amazing. And the rusty tones and detail of the fort wall adds another point of interest. Just one question though: Is this full frame or did you crop it at all? If you cropped it, I would have corrected the tilt, but if it is full frame then I would agree with leaving the composition as it is otherwise you would have had the left hand monkey too close to the edge of the frame if you'd tried to straighten it. Cheers . . . David

This is a fantastic shot Vivek !
I realy like the way you compose the picture in two parts. The monkeys on the undifined but very coloured structure on the foreground; and the huge town in the background. For the town the blur is just perfect.
Realy well done.

Hi Vivek! What a great photo! It is the first time I see it. Very good composition: two monkeys in action on a roof and the colorful city as a background. I like also the colors (mixture of brown-dark-orange for the roof and the multiple tonalities for the city). The photo is very sharp. Excellent!!!
mariasmirnova (391) 2007-10-02 8:08
Dear Vivek, please let me join all of those who favored this picture - it is reall fantastic! You've made a wonderful play of space, light and movement!
Thanks for sharing!
pascal-harbi (1005) 2007-10-17 10:03
Nice vivid colors and nice catch! The framing is great too... but... the thing disturbing me is the post-processing that is a bit too strong. You can see the halo around the monkeys... and this gives a bit an unnatural touch to the picture.
Jonas_Schmitt (3074) 2007-11-10 1:16
Excellent picture with fantastic sharpness and well saturated realistic colors.I like the positioning of the two monkeys very much and you chose a good point of view.Well done!
