Photographer’s Note

This photo was taken during the penalty shoot out between Portugal and England in the FIFA worldcup 2006 (quarter finals). Thousands of Portugese fans watched the exciting game at the former EXPO area in Lisbon. I hope that the photo expresses the thrilling mood that was in the air. At the end Portugal won, and a huge party started!

It´s so difficult for my to understand this nacionalistic passion, nevertheless I think the photo portraits very well the moment. Pitty the little flag on the right, but the faces are great. Thanks for share.

Hi Christian, you certainly have managed to capture the excitement of the game, good shot, however the blurred image in the fore ground is a bit distracting.

Finally a great shot showing some happy Portuguese people. At the end, we won the match. And we will keep winning until we bring the cup to Lisbon!!! Thanks for sharing that beautiful moment.

Perfect timing! I was in the stadium with english colleagues and I can say that the mood was a little bit different ;-)

Just look at the expression on those faces! Great capture in my opinion. Gave me goose bumps!

And I can imagine those street parties afterwards were something to see too!
