Photographer’s Note
This unicorn greets those who exit the train station at Hampton Court, walk across the bridge over the Thames, and arrive at the main gate to the grounds of the castle. The crown at his hooves let people know that beyond the gate lives someone of great import (if the castle at the end of the green doesn't give it away first).
I arrived and met this sight just as the castle was about to open to the public. The rather dramatic clouds threatened rain, and I worried that my day would become an exercise in soggy misery. The clouds moved on though, leaving the castle's guests with a gorgeous spring day.
