Bad weather coming Photo

Photographer’s Note

Looking west toward the Southern Alps from the main road along the Makarora River, with Mt Aeolus on the left. This area is in Aspiring National Park. These late afternoon clouds look good, but indicate bad weather on the way.

Scanned from a photo. I cropped the bottom of the photo, which was mostly black. The foreground was underexposed so as not to burn out the bright clouds.

Incredible scenery Vincent. I think the black foreground increases the the importance of the clouds as main object in the frame.

Extraordinary image Vincent. I particularly like the long, lean semi-panoramic effect. Colours and hues and contrasts are dramatic.

Excellent shot, Vincent...extremely well composed. Good decision to trim the bottom, and the underexposed foreground helps to throw the emphasis on the cloud formation and make the colours and patterns more vivid. Fantastic shot, Vincent! Technically spot on. Amazing clouds caught in excellent light and with the bonus of being surrounded by dramatic mountains. The horizontal or panoramic format was a good choice here. Well done.

Amazing weather and scenery. I would also have to add that this is one of the best results from a scanned-from-photo image I have seen on this website.
