Photographer’s Note
Well, it's been a long week- fighting the flu for most of it. I got home and on a whim decided to grab my camera and head out to take some shots;
Camera? - Check
Tripod? - Check
Cable Release? - Check
Memory Cards? - Check
Fresh Battery?......
FRESH BATTERY?!?!?!?!.... by this point I was already at my destination and just setting up my first shot. My battery icon on my camera was flashing- I was almost out of power.
So I snapped off a few shots. This was one of the better ones.
This is Singapore's Clarke Quay. Having undergone millions of dollars in renovations, Clarke Quay is quickly becoming one the key entertainment areas of Singapore.
I hope you like the shot,
- Dan
Now I'm really frustrated as I was going to post a panoramic, but my small version I guess is not within the guidelines!!!!! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ;-)

Very nice! Night shots are one thing that I've never really done, so I'm always impressed when someone does it really well. Good idea to shoot near the water, where you can get a good reflection. Re: your camera problem, I have 2 words for you - spare battery! It's saved my a** many times!

You make me smile with your comment, Dan. Reading your lines I remember an afternoon making several pics without the momory card in my camera. It was still in my computer.
Back to your picture. It is a very nice nightshot with excellent colours and great lightning. The reflections of the colours on the water are fine. Well done,
best wishes + have a nice weekend

Great shot Dan, you always get these night shots spot on. I enjoyed reading your note and it reminded me of once when I set off to shoot the sunset on the beach. Tripod set up, nd filter in place, shot composed, click 'NO CF Card' AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

Hi Dan
Also a problem with battery ? As my last shot from Bolivia, lol...I am also frustated for can't open the large view. Despite all these negative points, I really like you shot with such vivid colors and reflections.
Cheers

Hi Dan!
LOLS! I think I will not be the only one who really know what you mean... One year (yesterday!) since I have a camera and I can tell you that I still forget things. Grrrrr!
About the photo, well it is good. Nice colors and sharpness. As usual with your photos. But... Well, it is not about your ability to take photos, it is more a disappointment to see that every places in the world seem to become more and more Westernized!
Hope the flu is gone! And the bad day too! ;)

Well, I guess you made the most of the few electrons available to you. These exposures are tough when it's true night rather than twilight, but you got it right. The blues especially look rich. Nice framing, too--no more sky than necessary, not too much reflection so it doesn't overpower the actual scene. Looks great! Regards, Ken.

Welcome back Dan!
Seems like the Violet Roof Top Colour is the common favourite!
Yet to make a trip there, thanks for the beautiful pic.

Hi Dan
Good shot and nice perspective. The balance works well and the colours and sharpness are well resolved. A bluer sky would have been nice, but that's just me. Can't understand why you would need to use such a high ISO as 1000 when you had a tripod with you?

Hello Dan,
Fantastic shot with such a beautiful night view. The light is perfect and the colours are amazing. The reflection of the colours in the water is a great addition in this shot! I also have to mention that the details are really stunning as well as the sharpness! Great work, Dan!
Greetings,
Ann
PS: My oh my, no fun to run out of a battery power...it happened to me once and at that time I could kick myself! It's a lesson learned very quickly...hehe! Always check that your batteries are working and have lots of shooting time...hehe

WHERE'S YOUR PANORAMA????????
i'm disappointed. haha! this would have been good too. you know the panoramic guidelines? your original has to have 2.5:1 dimensions ... or something like that.
great shot though and i'm scanning to look for something overexposed and can find nothing! well done! i think that's very difficult to do mate.
considering you had virtually no battery, this is a sensational result. well done!

Well, regardless of battery drainage, what you did walk away with was one hell of a shot. Quite literally, I can't find the right word/words to describe what I'm looking at. It appears I guess that certain spots have a sepia tone which looks terrific. Three cheers for a weak battery!
Stellar composition.
