Photographer’s Note
The waving of a lit lamp before a Hindu deity is called the arati, or aratrikam and symbolizes the soul's surrender to God. This ritual allows active participation and the devotees chant the divine name, while clapping their hands or sing bhajans while the priest performs the rites. So that he does not rudely awaken the Deity, the priest avoids touching the altar. He wakens the Deity softly by rhythmically waving the pancha-pradeep which is essentially a brass vessel holding five ghee lights, as pictured here. As in most Hindu rituals, Tulsi leaves and Shiuli flowers (seen inside the pradeep) form an integral part of worship. The picture was taken at Hampi inside one of the temples that still stands today among its ruins.
PS : The image is not tilted though it may appear so. Its just that the lamps are more towards one side.

Hi Sabyascahi
You've shot this everyday Puja lamp very well here...The best part is your handling of the light.

Hi Sabyasachi,
Beautiful capture of the burning lamps. Very nice composition and colors. Only, I find the bluish strip of cloth (or something but it looks like cloth to me) slightly distracting. Otherwise, its a very nice shot. TFS

Hi Sabs
Interesting rituals.
You got a steady hand to provide a good exposure for this shot, Sabs.
But I find the angle, from the top, seem too "flat" for the effects of the lamps to create the truely atmospheric for this image. Maybe a little sided angle?
Good day, Sabs.
