Photographers Note
This is the view looking south from Angels Rest point in the Columbia River Gorge. Alisha and I hiked this one together, for the first time up this trail. I'd been up here before but from the other longer side with my sister. This trail is shorter, but hence more steep, 2.5 hours up and only 1.25 hours down, which is an indication of how fast I travel UPHILL!!
From: Johann & Sandra's Web site
"This is one of the most popular hiking trails in the Columbia River Gorge, and for good reason. The views atop Angel's Rest are spectacular, and it's only 2.2 miles to get there! There are good spots at the top for lunch, and for viewing the sunset, if you're so inclined.
The trail heads immediately uphill, through fern-laden slopes, gaining most of it's elevation right away. After a half-mile, you'll pass 100-foot Coopey Falls, and then climb pas an upper, 30-foot falls, and cross Coopey Creek on a small footbridge. Beyond Coopey Creek, the trail continues to launch upward, switchbacking and traversing a rockslide. Turn left when you reach a crest, and head out to the lookout, where you can enjoy lunch overlooking the Columbia River Gorge.
The views from here are spectacular, and the rocky ridge provides a feeling of isolation. The ridge is exposed here, so be careful. Also be careful of the poison oak, which notoriously graces this trail, particularly the trail out to the ridge. To return, hike back down the trail the way you came."
Photo: Cropped, Clonned out some branches on the left that didn't allow for the "lone oak" look, Brightness/Contrast, Resized, Sharpened.

Nice shot Lori;
Excellent detail in the tree, the DOF helps to make the tree standout from the background.I like how you captured ALL the tree, nothing cut out or missing, and although it is very centered- it doesn't seem so thanks to the diagonal of greenery covering the bottom right corner.
I like it Lori.
Cheers,
- Dan

Great shot of the gorge. The tree is really outstanding figuratively and actually. At this time of year I miss Oregon, but by October the desert is best. You have some wonderful shots in your portfolio.
