Photographer’s Note
A little while ago i uploaded a sunset, something that Richard (RGatward) called "an almost ;o) dirty word" here on TE, well, here's another one, a macro and not just any macro a macro of a dragonfly :o) But since there is a category called nature, and the great Darren posted one not that long ago (we all have sceletons Darren ;o) I summed up my courage and did it ;o)
This was taken about 15 minuttes ago near a small pond where loads of bugs were buzzing in the sun.
I cropped it like this to make it more interesting (and, as alot of you will be able to make out from the DOF on the rest of the shot, because the face was out of focus :o)
Shot with a D70 and processed in PhotoShop.
- I will also admit beeing inspired by Olli's macros, Curtis would probably have mentioned it if I hadn't :o) -

Very nice macro Line, I love the strong association of green and red, all the details are well catured, sharpness is excellent. Theway you framed the picture is very successfull, it's unusual to see onlu a part of a subject in macro and here it gives originality an dthe composition reinforce it. Very well done

I like this satirical jab-- you've taken to subvert a macro shot of something interesting (by cropping +50% of the subject matter). Colour contrast between those leaves and the tail of the 'fly is great.

Well actually I said almost, and it was more an idea of how I thought they were viewed here, than my own opinion. Tat view of macros, though, wasn't someting I was aware of. Anyway, an interesting view of this one, especially the way you've cropped it.

I'm so glad you're back to posting on TE, Line, you and your "out of the order' uploads! I love this even lore than your sunsets, and I suddenly remember your first macro shot on TE, that was before TrekNature was invented, and no one ever mentioned that it should not be on TE.
I love the way you handled the out of focus head, a very creative find, and an upload that can be expected from you!

Hi Line,
It's to fun to see such an original macro. Other than the really nice composition, I like how everything is green except the dragon fly, that makes it stand out really well. I think a problem with a lot of macros is that the main subject doesn't stand out from the rest, there's no depth in them. Bu you succeeded really well, even though we can only see half of the insect.

This is an original one, Line - I'm impressed by your ruthless amputation of the out-of-focus head:) The remaining body and wings are beautiful in colour and detail. Lovely green surrounds, and the horizontal fernery is quite graphic and interesting. I, for one, have no problem with sunsets and macros if they're done with a bit of style:)

Hi Line
balancing between the question of either this is a great crop, yes or no ? It would be not on TN, that's for sure, cutting of his head, for some ugly but for me not, I made once a close portrait on TN, of only his head.
I give you the advantage of the doubt by the great contrasting greens to its body and the sharp view on one of his wings. You know if you stay put on the same place, dragonflies always return to the same spot !
