My todays upload shows a "lonesome monk" on the rooftop of the Buddhist monastry Spituk, near Leh in Laddakh, North-India.

I've been travelling in 1995, 4 months in India, at the end of my journey the way led me to Laddakh (literally translated from Tibetian language "moonland"). The scenery there looks unreal, most of the time I felt like being in adream. It was one of the most impressive places I've been.

In this Northern tip of India the atmosphere is really peacefull, the only bigger "city" Leh has got only 28000 inhabitants.
What a big contrast to the overpopulated and hectically rest of India

In the high altitude dessert of Laddakh the temperatures in winter are getting extremely cold, but with allmost no snow. The Hiamlayan range stops the monsoon clouds, before they can reach to "Moonland", so there is just a little bit of rain during spring and autumn. Only where the Indus river brings his waters there is the chance to grow something.

The Indus river flows there in an altitude of 3500m.

At end of September the temperatures are getting lower and lower, the very short summer comes to an end. In winter time the temperatures are very low (sometimes between -20 & -30°C)

Hi Daniel,
really beautiful view of North India, I like this quiety place and what light...
Thanks for this shot ;)

A really beautiful scene, Daniel. Solitude is not what one normally associates with India! A great color scheme for this shot with varied earth tones. Two small comments--it's not quite sharp toward the left side, and the black frame is too "heavy." Otherwise it's great! Regards, Ken.

Hi Daniel,
Beautiful, beautiful image! I too like the earth tones, and feel that the wind-swept clouds in the sky add a dimension of dynamism. I like the black frame myself: it brings out the luminous urn, soil, and sky.

Fantastic scene, under a beautiful sky

Your pictures are like portraits of my country India.
How do you manage this clarity to Horizon? I am struggling in this aspect and would like to learn.
Greatr shot.

Hi Daniel. Interesting composition, lovely colours - esp. in the sky and yellow pot. "Dreamlike" is a good way to describe this image - perhaps b/c of the wispy and unusual cloud formations, and the anonymous figure with his back towards us. An excellent shot!

very nice frame Daniel.
Regards...
good contrast and colourful exposure.

Hi Daniel,
Wonderful view from the rooftop of the Shey Monastery. That building behind is infact the Shey Palace. This used to be the capital of Ladakh which was later shifted to nearby Leh. Excelent POV. Great combination of colours and a very informative note. Well Done!

I've been wanting to visit Ladakh for a while - this one makes me want to book a flight immediately!
The colours and clarity are wonderful, with the lone monk giving some scale.
Good one.
Thanks
Brian

A beautiful shot of this place.
The sky is simply magnificent and acts wonderfully as a contrast to the rest of the picture. Truly lovely!
The character in the middle has a very interesting way of standing; he seems curious yet at the same as if he was trying to hide from something below. An interesting body image.
A little bit a pity that the part on the right is slightly over-exposed but it doesn't matter much.
What else to say?
That it is truly wonderful :D

Kind regards,
Julia

Hi Daniel
no, I didn't want to scip this fine shot for the well composed scene with the yellow textured vase as eyepuller on the side, the moastry the other side and with the monk this view over the mountains contrasting this excellent cloud textured blue sky, a very beautiful shot.
