Photographer’s Note

Walking through "Old Nice" I noticed this woman chasing her dog.

Vieux Nice, or Old Nice, is an area of Nice located east of the Promenade des Anglais. If you travel to Nice, it is THE place you must visit. The narrow lanes, buildings of beautiful orange and golden tones and picturesque markets and squares will be one of your favorite memories of Nice. The best time to go, in my opinion, is during lunch as this part of town is lively during this time.

Hi Cheryl,

Impressive view on this narrow strreet with all these doors that offer a lot of relief and texture.

Very nice colours and light with your subject perfectly place on strenght line. To capture her in silhouette is very graphic and esthetic and the contrast make her an eye-catcher.

Hi Cheryl - a very striking image which you have composed well and done a good job in managing the difficult light. I particularly like the contrast between the silhouette of the woman and all of the orange tones. My only criticism would be that you have overdone something in PP (not sure whether it would be contrast, saturation or sharpening) because it has created a halo effect around the woman which almost makes it look as if she has been cut and pasted into the photograph. Cheryl, excellent capture of the sun glow pouring on these facades. The contre-jour silhouette brings dramatic beauty to the compo. One can feel the heat, the magic of the Mediterranean blessed region on the worl! Very, very, very good shot. Cheers, --amz

Nice shot with beautiful colors on the houses... I like the light which gives more contrasts ! Maybe it's a pity that the woman is so dark !

I like the way you cropped the image - but kept the door in the frame.
The silhouette of the woman add so much and makes this a special image.
