Boats at Keswick Jetty Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is a commonly photographed view of the jetties at Keswick, on Derwent water in the Lake district. The larger boat in the background is from a company that runs 'water taxi' services to various jetties around the lake. I'm not sure what the boats in the foreground are used for.

Technique: Manual exposure, Tripod, Cokin P Grey grad filter used.
PP: Convert from RAW, Remove marks caused by rain on the filter! Slight crop from the right, re-size, smart sharpen.

impressive shot.. i must say and very very sharp (what i like) , the space at the right is actually "saving" the picture from being too crowded.

Nice enough shot, but in my opinion the light is a bit dull and lifeless, and the composition needs to be tightened up a bit.
You should have got a bit closer to the boats because at the moment there's a bit too much foreground and it would be better if you had excluded that patch of tarmac in the bottom left hand corner.

Hi Andy,

This is a wonderful picture. I agree with ben4321 that it would have been better to cut some of the foreground, but other than that I think this is a great photo. The dark clouds (exaggerated because of the good use of the grad grey filter) are awesome and really 'make' this picture. I also really like the hills in the background and the fact this picture is so liveless. TFS! Well done!

This is the kind of sky I like but not for those who wished to go for a boat tour. Indeed, no one is around fearing the approaching storm.

I also see that your gallery TE is interesting. I chose the one who kicks away a particular atmosphere. Very nice shot.
