Photographer’s Note

Karavai... A word for milking a cow as well as the cow itlself in Tamil!...This is an art & not many are capable of doing it...Many have broken teeth & Hips trying to perfom this...
In Tamil nadu, every election is of the same process...The politicians have an art to milk votes out of the voters..
But unlike this ancient act,more often, the notorius art of politics leaves the cow bleeding & the calf Dead!.

I did not expect that you would dare to be so explicit towards the political tendens in Tamil Nadu, surprising and what a genial comparaison ! I like this rural scene a lot, you will notice once later when I don't forget to link to this one. Fine to maintain the Tamil title as it reflects still your proudness about your culture.

I see that this image is the best among all that you have posted in TE.
With an excellent blending of low angle coverage, together with the collection of natural lighting from the side, and still maintain a good lighting in the internal space, the outcome of this picture is overally the best.
Next, giving a little of tilted effect, it created more naturalness of photography thus giving this image a sense of PHOTOJOURNALISM.
Bravo.

Hi Prem,
A nice daily life /political photo and a realistic note... i saw critiques by Henk and Marilyn who both knows India very well and the milking relation with politicians is quite funny(better laugh about it than cry!!) a nicely tilted image which also remind the politicians(crooked as hell)i follow indian politics quite a lot and where i live (Goa)they actually not only promise but really give a 100Rs for each vote and go around villages offering people caju feni the local lethal drink... drink one feni and you d even vote for me!!!

nice scene, the cows are everywhere in tamil Nadu.
you very well managed the light in such difficult conditions.
About politics, in our country we have also bad behaviours, the difference is that it is less easy to see...

Hi Premanand,
Although I find your last post of that interesting flower a very nice one (good ws and incomes that you got), I really like the way you captured this daily life scene, which is getting extinted from the modern life, by new technology.
The lighting is wonderful and the tiltness works perfectly in this composition. I specially like the back of the cow and the way she is looking at you. Interesting comparison with the politicions in your note, as well (I liked it).

You handle the challenging lighting conditions very well Premanand and offer us an intimate view of village life. During my visit to India many years ago the room in the guest house where I stayed overlooked a small compound in which lived two families with about six cows that were fed and milked each day. I felt about this the same as I feel here, that the scene is timeless. Although the colors are muted by shadows, you've achieved fine clarity. I imagine you're having great fun with your 350D, which is a wonderful camera. Enjoy yourself and keep showing us your corner of the world.

a nice use of the tilt here, then you succeed you fit the 2 cows in your composition without cropping anything. A nice shot, the picture is sharp for this kind of light conditions. I liek the comparaison in your nore ;o)

Very nice lighting and I like the frame tilt of this photograph. Further, the fact that you got up to your subjects nice and close is great, and you handled the backlight well.

The workshop has richer colors, but the composition lacks the context of the original IMHO.

it's a remarkable shot of daily life... the light and shade here is very perfect... light falling on the head with the dark side of the cow is a perfect photo contrast...
