Photographer’s Note

As we were walking back to our car from entering the Great Pyramid, I spotted this camel and rider looking as though they were posing for me. I thought it gave some sense of the sheer size of the Pyramid of Cheferen. However, you may note that the camel is standing on a bluff in front of the pyramid, and really is much closer than the pyramid - so guess it really isn't perspective....
Taken with 35mm camera - and neg scanned.

You sure entered with a bang! This is an outstanding capture. (I had no idea that the pyramids were this large, guess I better get myself there.)

I think you can improve this picture a bit. I don't think the sky is as smooth as could be. I tried to run the file through Neat Image to reduce the noise level but ran into problems due to the Jpeg reduction that has already been done. Probably better to work from the original scan.

Also, sharpening will bring out more detail. I'm posting a Workshop for your consideration.

As far as the camel being closer.... If so, the pyramid is even larger.

What an incredible image! I like how the outline of the camel and rider are clearly visible against the backdrop of the blue sky. It seems as if the rider and camel are both taking in the immensity of the pyramid structure. If you haven't sharpened after scanning, I would try some 'unsharp mask' to make it a bit crisper.
