Gathering for the Winter Photo

Photographer’s Note

It was a nice autumn weather and I took a stroll at the Loring Park near downtown Minneapolis. The squirrel were very active searching and gathering food. It wasn;t easy to take a shot at them as they keep running around. Manage to capture this one as it was takes a breather.

I like the off centre composition of the squirrel and the DoF is well controlled - the animal is nice and sharp the background is out of focus so it doesn't distract and makes the squirrel stand out. The areas of the foreground that are quite sharp don't distract from the subject and give a good impression of the surroundings. Also the limited colours - browns, greys, greens work together. Two things though - maybe there is too much space in the photo - a tighter crop on the squirrel might have worked and secondly the colours are a little muted in this light - maybe a touch of fill-in flash might have brightened things up?

Its a good squirrel picture, well composed and sharp and he looks very healthy and well fed for the winter. The green colors are very bright, maybe they could be desaturated or darkened a little.

Le contraste et la nettetée de la photo sont très bien réussit avec un tel sujet pris sur le vis. La composition est très belle et le rendu des couleurs est super.
