Photographer’s Note
The sandstone at Alum Bay, near Totland on the Isle of Wight is full of beautiful contrasting strong colours and makes for some interesting abstract shots. I have cropped this slightly to get the change between colours happening at the bottom left and top right corners.

Nice abstract. It is interesting how the lighter stone seems to be much smoother in texture and the dividing line between the two has no thickness, almost like painted on.

The contrasting colours and diagonal composition do form a superb abstract. Having very recently learned about the technique of contrast masking, I thought that this would be a particularly interesting image to try it on. And I found doing so fascinating. If you have not used this technique, there is a reference/link to it in the Tips/Techniques section. I think you may enjoy experimenting with it, even though in the end you may decide that you like your original best.
