Photographer’s Note
"A kind of lyrical ecstasy possesses young Americans in the springtime, a feeling of not belonging in any one place or in any one moment, a wild restless longing to be elsewhere, everywhere, now!" -Jack Kerouac
For all those that once got the "Beat Fever".
THE PLACE:
This is the famous Bolivian Altiplano. Anyone leaving or entering La Paz will be fascinated by this long Altiplano, second only to the one in Tibet. In fact, the so called Bolivian Altiplano goes way beyond Bolivia, stretching to Chile, Peru and Argentina as well.
Altiplano means in Spanish High and Plane. And that's exactly how this part of Bolivia is. The average height of the Altiplano is a impressive 3,300m.
THE PHOTO:
A traditional shoot of a free trekker, taken on the the front seat of a two stories bus. There is only one thing that I don't like on this picture, and it is the Flash reflex on the window. I kinda had very little do do with it, since the interior of the bus was very dark and I wanted to clearly show my foot on the composition.
MUSIC FOR THE PHOTO:
Willie Nelson - On The Road Again.
On the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again,
And I can't wait to get on the road again.
On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
And our way
Is on the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
And our way
Is on the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again

Ah, is there a greater freedom. I like the vibes your photo sends out. I also like the comment very much, with the Kerouac quote and everything.
I also feel like that, even though Im far from being an American. :)

Hi Leandro,
In fact, I thought you were lying in the back of a pick-up truck, the cracks in the window being stripes of some silver material carried by the wind and the reflection of flash being sun peeping through the clouds - incredible how photo can be deceiving, isn't it?
Interesting low-key travel document.
Regards,
Robi

That's a very interesting photo in its concept because it's a midpath between two kinds of photos :
- the people who lean towards reportage try to make themselves stealth as they can, without leaving traces of their presence in their photography.
- oppositely, happy snapshooters, put themselves in situation, switch the self timer on and pose in front of landmarks.
On your case, you only put your feet in situation.. usually travel photogs like to recall the fact of travelling with various hints like (car, train, bus, plane...) window frames or such. here we are in front of one of the most important motion tool or the traveler : his feet!
Not exactly you, like these feet could be any traveler's and not exactly inanimated tools... Anyway I like the concept of the thing, that's clever Leandro.
Perhaps a bit too dark but it's also very easy to get rid of the flash reflection.

Very smart shot, which has many of the qualities I like in a pic: not the least being that it would make a great travel film poster! A tad dark as my friend Luko says, but the coors are splendid and rich, and I really like the path of the broken glass in the windshield.
Bravo,
Francis

I like this "foot view" Leandro! A fine song and photo to match it. I like it when photogs leave traces of themselves in their work.

Love the note, love the photo. I suppose you traveled a lot in the meantime (almost 2 years). Boliva, Peru,..., where else?
I'd love to see more pics.

Fun and nice at the same time. Has a typical feeling of the long journeys.
And I like it.
