Photographer’s Note
I got a new scanner this week and dug out a couple of photos taken a long time ago with probably my Nikon EM camera. These swans are on a man made lake at Cold Knap, near Barry, Glamorgan.

It's a beautiful shot. It would have been better if you had caught the front swan with his/her head a bit higher, not blocking the other swan.
The image is noisy. Look at the brown areas in the upper left. Maybe you can get a cleaner scan by working with you new scanner some more. Or you could use a program such as Neat Image to clean it up.
I'd like to see more detail in the feathers, as well.

Nice composition and vision Joan.
The position of the swans and the reflection in the water make for a very nice shot.
I notice a lot of dust on your image. This shot would be greatly improved if you select the dust, the white hair on the swan in back's tail for example and selected "Dust and Scratches" from the "Filter", then "Noise" menu in PhotoShop (LE or Elements) or similar photo retouch software. When you've done that, maybe apply a light "Unsharp Mask" to sharpen up the image.
Very nice shot though!
(Whoops! Looks like I was typing in sync with Bob there. Having clicked "update", our comments appeared together. ;-)
