She's the centre of attention for tradesmen after work, she's the girl that can pour you a whiskey and talk to you when you're down, and she's the fantasy of all of the guys, but the bar girl remains untouchable.

This is a b/w shot. Brenda. She's beautiful and very well illuminated, and the BG really looks loke they are in a fantasy. The quality of the capture is excellent. Well done

(I am a bit cocerened about the withe light dot neat the guy;s ear, perhaps it should be removed)

So real ;-)

A story indeed is told here. The lighting and the selective focus on the beauty is wonderful. And, completing the picture in the background are those entranced. Well done.

She is Marlene Dietrich and Mary Pickford combined - as seen in 21st.century.
Top photography by any means, by any genre, by any style. Highest praise for you Brendan, for it is a work that suppose to go to photo archives of the world.
Describing this work any further would be an insult to the natural perception of an art.
Thanks mate, for sharing this beauty with us.
George

Great perspective Brendan, swaying us from front to back with the fuzzy details - the man with his fist to his chin, appearing to be contemplating what to say the next time she swings around, to the foamy pint up close and personal (was it yours?), and the beer tap logos reminding us of the tools of her trade.

Nice POV. The girl looks drunk herself though. Nicely seen.

Fantastic!
The passion is splashing form the screen and the in blurry guys make it perfect in combination with your notes
Perfect shot

Hi Brendan.
Dolin

Hi Brendan,
What a wonderful perspective. Beautiful B&W portrait. The BG details provide the story behand the real picture. I guess it is the same all around the world. Only the faces keep changing.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Brendan,
Splendid portrait. The tilt and the DOF are great. The smile on her face his very sensual. Bravo.

Hello Brendan ,
i love that image ! the atmosphere of this Bar really makes a great pic,
the composition is good with that beautiful and tired face on the mess , and the customers on the blur side.
a picture that tells a story.

This is exvellent. The strong, sexy woman in the foreground, who btw is one of the more attractive women Ive seen on TE, and the guys in the back just devouring her with their eyes. A nice smoth bokeh sets her apart from the erst of the scene.

Hi Brendan. It's a bit like a still from an old movie. Nice texture and tone, lighting, and effective tilt, but the white spot is a bother. Still, it's a photo full of interest and life and the b/w is appropriate.
Andrew

This is splendid, Brendan, really right up there. The tilt appears so natural here, as in a kind of V-Jay ANZAC celebration of old...The war''s over, those spectral thin boys have come home from building the Burma Railroad, the 4XXXX is on tap and the barmaid is prettier than any Sheila. It's a great moment you captured, with an old time feel.
Bravo!
Francis

Great B&W image - and the DOF used gives that feeling of having had a couple of drinks while the eye focuses on the attractive barmaid! ;)

The bokeh effect is really good - those Canon 50mm lenses (I've got the 1.8) are something else alright.

(Toohey's New - it's been a while since I've sampled that particular drink!)

There is this rather annoying old song that always gets stuck in my head called "Brandy"- its about a bar girl named Brandy who every sailor loves but the one she loves etc...etc.. It just reminded me of that. I like your compo- the guys in the back really add to what’s going on. Great capture.

Rosie

Hi Brendan, a nice composition with good BW tones... Nice bokeh with the 2 dreaming guys...
Cheers
Yan

Nicely done. For some reason it seems to have an early Hollywood feel. Perhaps it's her hairstyle, also the fact there is a pretty much a full range of tones which is not so common these days. Very bonny barmaid too, perhaps not the tallest girl in the world :) but very nice.

Hi Brendan, what a fantastic photo. You have captured the coyness of the bar girl very well and the dreamy fantasies of the men are well reflected, both in the composition and the use of depth-of-field. Stunning tonal contrast too. Excellent and a favourite. Stephen

Great atmospehere, and the Bokeh really throws her into the centre of attention. I'm sure she already was, judging by your note. She also has that dreamy expression. Boy I wish she was pouring me a beer......

A lovely example of your talent Brendan, really well captured.. and.. really nice note, BRAVO+++

ciao,
Fabio.

Hello Brendan
Great shot! this picture remains me marlene Dietrich... Everything's perfect : B&W, POV, her special smile and men in the back who are looking at her... Bravo!
Regards, Karine

ok, I know everyone seems to love this, but I feel a little indifferent actually.

I am really quite bothered by the obvious, which is the fact that she has her eyes shut...this and the fact that her beautiful face is covered by all those beer pumps. I feel that this kind of spoils the image of her being ths graceful, powerful and unnatainable barwoman...she looks a little drunk to me, not very well composed. I feel I could have overlooked these little issues if you had put something different in your notes to fit what I am actually seeing. Or am I missing something here?

I think you have worked wonders technically...the b/w conversion is lovely and the background blur is also quite nice...

I hope you dont mind me speaking my mind...

awesome shot.. i love how it looks like you're taking a sneaky peek over the bar to her. and she has that coy smile like she knows everyone is looking but isn't going to acknowldge it.. wonderful

Hi Brendan,
Nice portrait with the two guys looking at her in the back. We find her good looking and we know that they are thinking the same. The tilt is welcome. Her entire smile would have been preferable.
Great B&W,
Christophe

Hi Brendan,

You managed to render well the bar's atmosphere with a well-managed dof: blurry environment, no distinguishable faces after too many drinks ;o).
Thanks, Alain -

Hello Brendan,
very nice B&W portrait! Wonderful perspective and blure on background. I like it.
Julia
