I think this works well because of the uniform background - almost as if it were a subject in a white room. Your composition lends itself to the idea of solitude and waiting described in your note.

Hi Edgar, I love the mood of this photo. You have caught the hopelessness of this poor woman perfectly. I did find the patch of dark brown in the bottom left-hand corner a little distracting, however, so did a quick workshop to clone it away and make some other very minor changes. Stephen

The composition is excellent, you managed to capture the sense of resignation that this woman strongly exudes. The impact could be enhanced with framing, preferably black. Still, a very thought-provoking take. Well done, Edgar.
