Photographer’s Note
THE PLACE:
The "Cristo de la Concordia" is one of the most famous and visited places of Cochabamba.
With 33m (108ft.) of height the statue can be seen from most parts of the Cochabamba city. The height has a symbolic connection with the age of Christ when he was crucified. Its bigger that the one on Rio de Janeiro, but many argue that it has a much smaller proportion on the limbs (specially the arms). Made by the artist Cesar Terrazas Pardo who tried his best to make a sculpture that looked more human and kind that the well know Christ statue on Rip de Janeiro.
THE PHOTO:
That's exactly what this photo tries to capture: The more warm and welcoming face of Christ. Editing software was used only for resizing and noise reduction. I tried for a differnt POV that would but a lot of importance on the face. The contrast of the blue with the white is an very important part of the picture. And I alsomade sure to fine tune my WB so I could get a nice capture of the white statue.
CURIOUS AND USEFUL FACTS ABOUT THE CRISTO DE LA CONCORDIA:
- The holes you see on the statue are "windows". By paying a small fee tourists can enter the statue and view the city from inside it.
- Yes, it's that WHITE! It isn't some sort of software exaggeration. When taking a photo of it be sure to not let your camera's photometer get wrong readings.
- El Cristo de la Concordia is 6m higher than the Rio de Janeiro's Cristo Redentor.
- It is best to avoid going there near the sunset or when its getting dark. It's very badly illuminated. Small robberies are common on that time of the day, tourists are often the targets.

Welcome to TE. You have chosen a stunning image as your first posting. i assume that you used a polarising filter becase the impact of the blue and the clarity of the subject really stands out

hey leandro ... welcome to trek earth and this is a brilliant shot to start you off.
i really love the simplicity of your colours (the blue and white are quite striking). your pov is also good and i love that sky! wow!!!
also, well done to write a good note with your first photo. many trekkers don't write a note and it's a bad habit.
great photo, good note!!

Hi Leandro, nice contrast between this shiny blue sky and the white statue. Your note is also quite interesting. On the composition side which seems good to me, I would maybe leave a little bit more space above the head of the statue.

Hi Leandro,
I've been in Cochabamba but don't remember that Christ. How old is it ?
Anyhow your framing is quite interesting and the strong blue/white constrast as you mention is an important aspect.
Well done

Hi Leandro,
you've chosen an unusual pov for this capture...the contrast, colours and sharpness are excellent...if I remember well the construction of this statue ended around 1997, but i'm not sure...as you've mentioned here... a good orintation point in La Llajta...cheers, arturo
